Through Front Loop explained

Work into the front of the stitch — the ordinary way stitches are made. It is spelled out only to contrast with 'tbl' (through the back loop), for example when a pattern wants to be explicit about not twisting the stitch.

How you might see it written

Patterns aren't always consistent. tfl may also appear as TFL, or tfls. The converter recognizes all of these.
